There were many enjoyable and beneficial activities for me. The first enjoyable activity for me personally was the fact that I could find a quiet time during the week in order to focus on me and my learning and scholarship. I want this to become a habit, so I am very focused on keeping my Friday/Saturday time of learning and scholarship for me. As a single parent having raised my 18 year old son alone for 17 of his life years, I have always struggled with finding my own time for me. Secondly, completing the learning session was always a felt experience, meaning I felt I'd truly accomplished something significant. On a couple I only got the reading done, but I really appreciated the non-penalty approach, especially when I needed to forgive myself for not meeting my hoped-for expectation. Which leads me to the next benefit of the wonderful chatrooms. This is a unique and amazing concept...wow...just began to define my time and space. My son understood that I was not available, unless in an emergency, even though I was in the living room. He felt really terrible when he had to interrupt us when his ride to work didn't show up one Saturday morning. He changed his schedule after that with his boss so he wouldn't interrupt us in the chatroom. The learning became holistic in that it encompassed time, space, and curriculum. Adding Skype was wonderful as it seemed to help our overseas participants, and I enjoyed continuing conversations with them after our allotted time. The multiple threads in the written chatrooms were particularly engaging and rich, and added that extra engagement with text as we created our own text, in the moment, collectively, interactively. Loved the magicplay chimes and magicplay call. Such a nice multi-sensory touch!

Perhaps the fact that we were able to actually interact with those women that have in certain ways gone through violence in its myriad forms. I guess this was what contributed most to my learning in this course, besides the lessons from the Bible,if I remember correct.

The really good experience for me was the amount I got to learn, and the various lights that were shone on one topic. However, while I did not have and bad experiences, I did feel that sometimes my questions were left unanswered and in the case of our last few chatroom sessions, they became a little slow paced towards the end.

My computer issues were not unmanageable (or un-womanageable, as the case may be) as I only had a few "glitches" that delayed me for a minute or two during a few chatrooms. These were because of Comcast internet, not the course. I just rebooted and everything was fine. I was not able to copy and paste reflective comments to others in dialogue during the chatrooms which is something w/ my system that I don't understand, but I found a methodology to do this through keeping a Word window open and I would quickly type out a comment to which I wanted to reply that included a participant quote, so that began to solve the copy/paste problem. I think it must be something with my 2005 Mac iBook computer, but it was doable. I did really like that we got Shaista and Zara involved through Skype, and I'm sure I'll continue to have discussion through Skype with both of them. I appreciated very much how the chatrooms could evolve, throughout the 1.5 hours, which "flew" by so quickly, but also as the course progressed as well. Hearing and listening to each others' voices and ideas was quite interesting. Chatrooms present a new way to learn, reflect, engage, and dialogue.

I probably hope and wish if the discussions, at sometime, were not so moderated. There were occasions, when the discussions, which run across fantastically, were cut short at times. Even though I accept that time restraint was present, it could still have a little less moderated, as it was almost like putting a pause at the free flow of opinons.
